I consider myself foremost a portrait painter. Capturing the warmth or playfulness, calmness, gravitas, haunting depths or shining brightness of a person is what I aim for on top of the basic necessity of capturing a likeness. I enjoy freshening my mind and hand by painting anything that takes my fancy between portraits. You’ll see a lot of historic and archaeological sites and people in historical costume in my paintings. My first two degrees were in Archaeology and History and Medieval Culture respectively. I take pleasure in documenting my friends who are historical interpreters, costume makers and dancers and visually celebrating the products of their research and labour.

I will consider commissions for portraits of houses or people. Prices for commissioned oil portraits currently start at £650 plus postage. Prices for drawings start at £150 plus postage. Please get in touch if you would like to discuss a project or if you have seen an existing item in my gallery that you may wish to purchase.
